The City Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.

We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.

The City Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Responsibilities

We are now looking for a planning leader for our work with temporary meeting places for summer and winter 2026. The position is a project employment that runs from 2026-02-01 to 2027-02-01.

You will work with place development projects through planning, operational project management, and overall responsibility for certain projects throughout the year.

The position is challenging and varied, offering the opportunity to combine strategic ability with operational execution. It also provides a unique opportunity to experience what it is like to work with Place Development in Gothenburg City.

In the unit, 12 dedicated colleagues work with a breadth of competencies and experience in place development and sustainability issues. You will be part of a team that project manages place development projects where you together make the best of each other's competencies.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Architectural education (landscape or building) or education in design, alternatively project management training or work experience deemed equivalent
• At least one year of experience leading projects

It is advantageous if you have:

• Experience in detailed design of public spaces, preferably a range of streets, squares, and parks
• Experience in dialogue/co-creation/collaboration in projects
• Experience working with temporary or prototyping projects in the public space.

To succeed in this role, you need to be driven, responsive, and flexible. It is also important to be communicative and creative as a planning leader.

We are currently renovating our workplace at Köpmansgatan 20, where all urban development administrations will gather. The new premises are expected to be ready in 2026 – until then, we are located at Åvägen in Gårda.
